As you can see, we have a new header in spite of the ending of our inprisonment… I mean school. Throughout our lives, and human history, we have asked many questions that really have no right answer. Some of these questions have to do with changing opinion, and others have to do with lack of proof.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
This is a question of opinion. There are immense amounts of answers to this question. The answers differ from person to person. The chicken could have simply saw something on the other side of the road that caught his attention. Or maybe he was being chased by someone. Or perhaps a chicken crossing the road is as casual an event as a human in the same instance, and the chicken just wanted to get to the other side. Maybe we’re looking too deep into the chicken’s life, and should just mind our own business. The question itself is often used as a joke to catch someone dumbfoundedly over-think the question, when the answer is obviously “to get to the other side“.
Why do we drive on parkways, but park on driveways?
This question is solely dependent on the etymology of the words. A driveway has always been defined as a place leading to a garage, or a paved private space used for parking your car, and there’s no sense in changing it. The term; parkway was created after driveway, so it’s a given that it’s relation is blurry.
If a tree falls, and there’s no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?
Well, the obvious answer to this questions is yes. We say yes because we know that a tree makes a sound when we’re there to hear it, so it’s logical to conclude that it would make a sound without a witness. The reason why we ask this question is often misinterpreted. The reason being is that we make conclusions without evidence enough to hold up and steadily keep stable those very conclusions. We will never know if the tree makes a sound, or at least, we will never have proof.
The reason for this post was not to bore you with dumb overly complicated explanations. As I begin new things this summer, I see that I’m asking questions. Sometimes I think that the questions I ask are dumb, like what’s the correct way to perform a breast-stroke in swimming. Asking questions is normal, and it’s just part of life. Even if your question is dumb, dumb is just an opinion, and opinions change from person to person. I convey and am confronted with many questions. Before I go on and conclude that the question was dumb or easily cogitated with a bit of thought, I try to remember that everyone’s different, and what one person thinks is one thing, can be a completely different thing to another person.
Everyone’s view of a rainbow is different. When you see a rainbow, it can be nothing like the view the person next to you is seeing. I’m off to go see Land Of The Lost, with my people. Gotta love Will Farrell! That guy knows comedy.
JJacobb: I saw it today too!
